About Unbound Gravel
Unbound Gravel is a premier gravel race that takes place annually in the rolling hills of Kansas. The race, which covers a distance of approximately 200 miles, is known for its challenging terrain and unpredictable weather.
Nearly 4000 participants in the Unbound Gravel race must be prepared for a variety of conditions, including steep climbs, technical descents, and potential mud and rain. The race route winds through the scenic Flint Hills region of Kansas, offering stunning views of the rolling hills and tallgrass prairies.
One of the unique aspects of the Unbound Gravel race is its format. Instead of a traditional mass start, the race uses a "choose your own adventure" approach, allowing participants to select their own route and pace. This allows for a more personalized experience and allows riders to push themselves to their limits.
Despite the challenging conditions, the atmosphere at the Unbound Gravel race is one of camaraderie and support. Participants often form impromptu support groups, helping each other through the tough stretches of the race. Many also take advantage of the fully-stocked aid stations along the route, which offer food, water, and mechanical support.
