Richard Bong State Recreation Area is the host for this Annual Canicross Event. Once designated to be a jet fighter base, the park is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America’s leading air ace during World War II. The recreation area encompasses 4,515 acres of rolling grassland, savanna, wetlands, and scattered woodland. Nature is on display all around and is constantly changing with the seasons.
