The Boerne 0.5k, aka The Running Event for the Rest of Us, was created for folks who were NOT ready to go the extra mile.
Events like the Boerne 0.5k provide our community with a safe place to get physically active and make connections with their peers. Wait – who are we kidding with that drivel? The Boerne 0.5k, aka The Running Event for the Rest of Us, was created for folks who were NOT ready to go the extra mile. In fact, they weren’t even willing to go a mile at all, and actually, not even a quarter mile. But they were willing to have fun, dress up and poke fun at themselves! 100 percent of the proceeds of the Boerne 0.5K goto Blessings in a Backpack which is an organization that serves children living in poverty who receive their breakfast and lunch during the week through the Federal Meal Program at school, but often go hungry on the weekends. It costs approximately $220 to support one child for the entire school year and they collect monetary donations to purchase the food they provide. THere are several ways to participate depending on your level of energy and the extent of your lack of training. No matter how you “race”, participants will get the always coveted t-shirt and other fun Boerne 0.5k swag! Regular Ol’ Participant Participate in the “race of all races” and collect the swag! VIP Participant Don’t think you can manage the grueling 546 yards? Buy your way to the finish line and get some upgraded swag with the VIP package! Procrastinator Package Can’t make it to Boerne for the race in person? Just want to sit around your house eating donuts? Then this package is for you! Procrastinators get all the swag and the warm fuzzies of donating to Blessing in a Backpack with none of the effort of having to get your lazy self off the couch. You can also do a general donation to Blessing in a Backpack!
