Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths (often it rains during the race), crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.This is the mountain, covered with rocks and bushes, on which it is said Pheidippides met the god Pan.
Come celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of the Colorado Springs Marathon presented by Centura Health on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Whether you are a seasoned runner or looking to tackle your first 5k, we have you covered with 4 events to choose from.
A stunningly beautiful course in the scenic town of Leavenworth, Washington. Marathoners will start near the renowned Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Runners will run a fast course that begins with a 10-mile journey through Icicle Canyon, transitions to trails along the Icicle River passes through the National Fish Hatchery to East Leavenworth Road, crosses the bridge into the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth to follow the wooded riverfront parks and trails, eventually meeting up with Icicle Road, which leads back to one more trip around the Icicle River trails and to the Finish and roar of the crowd at the Hatchery and event center. In this amazing course, runners will encounter a mix of paved roads and paths, dirt roads, paths, and trails. Surrounded by impressive mountains, participants might see salmon spawning in the rivers or four-legged creatures cheering from the edge of the wild!
Let your WILDerness side RUN! A wilderness off-pavement running adventure through the Panhandle National Forest. The scenery of a trail race, but on driveable dirt forest road. All runners beginner to elite love this course for its scenic trail run-like experience, but on the non-technical running surface of compact dirt Forest Service Roads. Run along the lakeshore of pristine Priest Lake, through groves of lush forest, huge old-growth cedar trees, and big views of the rugged Selkirk Mountains.
Marathoners will park and start/finish their race in the super-trail town of Rockwood. The start/finish and parking lots are located at 100 Rockdale Road Rockwood, PA. Please park in one of the gravel parking lots on the west side of the road which can be seen in the small map below. Half marathoners will park and start/finish their race in the fantastic trail town of Meyersdale. The start/finish and parking lots are located at 527 Main Street Meyersdale, PA. Please fill the gravel parking lot first. There is also street parking on Main Street just a few hundred feet down the road from the trail. Please see the map below.
End the season with this fun fall themed event. This race will be fast. USAT sanctioned, and It's conveniently located near the Salt Lake Valley. Tooele has a great venue to accommodate this end-of-season triathlon with the flare of Halloween to set the mood for the rest of the month.
